Journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain‘s future.
The midfielder has become a squad player at Anfield, so he has been linked with a move away from the club.
Oxlade-Chamberlain only played 1,526 minutes of football for the Reds last season.
Romano has claimed that Oxlade-Chamberlain has received approaches from other teams. But, no official offers have been submitted to Liverpool.
“Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be one to watch: he has received approaches, but there are no official offers on the Liverpool table yet,” Romano said on his Daily Briefing with Caught Offside, as quoted by Empire of the Kop.
“As far as Jurgen Klopp is concerned, he doesn’t want many more departures this summer.
Jurgen Klopp on the parade:
“It was the most extraordinary experience of my life, I have to say. I haven’t had 500 parades, but I have had a few and this was the most special ever, ever, ever and I can’t see it being topped in the future.” #lfc [the anfield wrap] pic.twitter.com/vPHHTUUfMy
Anfield Watch Verdict
Oxlade-Chamberlain is contracted until the conclusion of the 2022-23 campaign.
The midfielder possesses a current market value of £14.40 million. Therefore, Liverpool would be better off parting ways with Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer to receive a transfer fee.
If they wait, they will lose him on a free transfer next summer. The reality is, the Reds are not short of options in midfield (Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita, Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones).
If Oxlade-Chamberlain departed the club this summer, he probably wouldn’t be missed. But, only time will tell if that is to be the case.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has scored 17 goals and registered 15 assists in 133 appearances for Liverpool’s first-team.
He has also won six major trophies with the Reds. So, Oxlade-Chamberlain’s time at Anfield has hardly been a waste of time.
Whatever the future holds, we wish the Englishman all the very best going forward.
