Welcome to the Liverpool.com daily Media Digest. From transfers to tweets, it can be hard to keep up with everything going on in the Anfield sphere. Credible, incredible and anything in between: we round it all up in one place here, taking a sideways look at the day’s media goings-on from around the world.
Liverpool ‘target’ Timo Werner
Liverpool are plotting a move to sign Chelsea forward Timo Werner, according to Football Insider. Werner is one of the many Chelsea players that could leave the club this summer as the new owners begin a shake-up of Thomas Tuchel’s squad.
Liverpool have gone back for former transfer targets successfully in the past, with Mohamed Salah perhaps the poster boy for such a move and plenty of others falling into the same category.
While things have really not gone well for Werner in London since moving from RB Leipzig, he has scored 23 goals and provided 21 assists in 89 appearances — probably a better record than most would have expected from his performances.
Minamino exit confirmed
AS Monaco have completed the signing of Takumi Minamino from Liverpool for a fee of just over £15m, with the French club’s manager confirming the deal.
“We’re really happy; he was our priority,” Monaco boss Philippe Clement said of the Japan international, who scored 10 times in all competitions last season for Liverpool.
Monaco finished third in Ligue 1 last season so will play in the Champions League in the new season. They were two points behind Marseille in second and 17 behind champions PSG.
Porto ‘expect’ Liverpool bid
FC Porto are ‘expecting’ Liverpool to make a bid for 27-year-old attacking midfielder Otávio this week after they rejected a £26m offer from Leeds United, who could sign the playmaker to replace Raphinha at Elland Road.
Born in Brazil but a full Portugal international, Otávio was linked with Liverpool last summer as well before Luis Díaz was signed from the same club in January. He can also play on the right of a front three as well as in the number 10 role.
